[Discounts] Coupon

Coupons are a great tool to attract new customers and cultivate repeat customers. Learn how to create, share coupons, and review your discount performance.

Before Starting

Coupons will be awarded to customer’s member account. Therefore, it is required to enable [Allow Member Login] under Online Store > Member Login.

Create a Coupon

  1. Go to Payment Settings > Discounts > Membership Coupon
  2. Click [+ Create Membership Coupon]
  3. Edit coupon information and rules

Coupon Settings

Basic Information

Title

Coupon title will be displayed on coupon QR code & coupon claiming page on online store.

Conditions for Automatically Giving Coupons

Spending Threshold Amount

You can set up a minimum order amount for customers to get this coupon. When the total price (after discount) of an order exceed this amount, this coupon will be awarded to the customer.

Coupon Types

Coupon Types

There are 2 types of coupon on iCHEF:

For Entire Order

ColumnDescription
Minimum spend to use the offerMinimum order amount for applying this coupon
Calculation type: PercentageDeducting a certain percentage (e.g. 5% off)

For Specific Items

Active Dates

Active Dates

Toggle on [Active Dates] to create a limited time coupon. You can set a time range for this coupon. It can be applied to orders “created within this time range”.

  • iCHEF POS: The time you create an order.
  • Online Store: The time the customer place an order.

Event Description

Coupon Description

You can add coupon description to help customers learn more about how to use it. The description will be displayed on coupon claiming page.

Module Status

You can apply coupons to different order sources, such as iCHEF POS, Online Store.

iCHEF POS Order

When toggled on, the coupon can apply to orders created on iCHEF POS. You can set up more requirements for different scenarios, such as order types or number of guest.

iCHEF Online Store Orders

When toggled on, the coupon can be applied to orders placed from Online Store. Please note that, to apply coupons to Mobile Ordering (Dine-in) orders, customers have to select [Pay at Counter] while placing an order.

Print Settings

Print coupon QR code

Toggle on [Print Coupon QR Code] to enable auto-printing of coupon QR code.

You can also give out coupons by sharing coupon link/code instead of printing QR code.

Authorization Settings

When toggled on, staffs will have to enter passcode to apply this coupon to an order.

Coupon Status

Status tags help you to get an overview of how many coupons are applied for this moment.

StatusDescription
You’ve scheduled this discount for a future time.
You are able to apply this coupon to orders now.
You’ve set a limited time range, and this coupon is no longer valid.
It is a coupon for specific items. The item indicated has been deleted.
You are unable to apply this discount now. But you can enable it again if needed.

Award a Coupon

Coupons can be auto-awarded to customer’s member account, or be claimed through coupon QR code, coupon link or coupon code.

Coupon QR Code

When toggle on [Print Coupon QR Code], the coupon QR code will be printed at checkout when “the coupon wasn’t awarded to member account”, and “the order meet your spending threshold amount”.

For Online Store orders, coupons are only available for Mobile Ordering (Takeout).

Configure Printer Settings

Once you create a coupon, [Coupon Rules] will be automatically added to [Cashier Printer]. This rule cannot be deleted, but you can drag the rule to other printer.

When a coupon is auto-awarded, the coupon title will be printed on the receipt.

Coupon Link/Code

Coupon Link and coupon code make it easier to share and promote! You can share your coupon on social media to encourage customers to order.

  1. Go to Payment Settings > Discounts > Membership Coupon
  2. Click on the link icon and share your coupon

Claim a Coupon

There are 4 ways to claim a coupon: auto-award, coupon QR code, coupon link, and coupon code.

A member can only claim & use a same coupon ONCE.

Auto-Award

When a customer log in or provide phone number to place an order, coupons will be auto-awarded to member account after checkout, and coupon QR code will not be printed.

Coupon QR Code

Anyone with coupon QR code can proceed to coupon claiming page and claim the coupon.

Coupon Link

You can post your coupon link anywhere you like to promote. When clicking on the link, customers will be redirected to coupon claiming page and they’ll need to log in or register to claim.

Coupon Code

Customers can log in to their member account and enter the coupon code to claim.

Apply a Coupon

According to the [Module Status] you set, customers or the staffs can apply coupons to orders from different sources.

iCHEF POS

  1. Go to Discount Page
  2. Find [Member Coupon] and enter customer’s phone number
  3. Select a coupon to apply

If the customer has a coupon code but hasn’t claimed it yet, you can enter or scan the coupon code to apply.

Apply Coupons on Split Bills

You can’t apply coupon with the bill split. A coupon can only be applied to one check. Remove the checks you created then you’ll be able to proceed to checkout.

Online Store

After customers log in, they can select a coupon, enter coupon code, or scan coupon QR code to apply.

Review Performance

You can track coupon usage and sales report on iCHEF backend to review the performance. (Learn more about: Discount Analysis)

Check Coupon Usage

  1. Go to Payment Settings > Discounts > Membership Coupon
  2. Check [Claim Amount] and [Redeem Amount] of each coupon

Check Available Coupons within a Member Account

By the Customer

  1. Log in to Member Account
  2. Click [My Coupons]

By the Staff from iCHEF Backend

  1. Go to Customer Management > Customer Info.
  2. Select a member and click [Coupon History]

By the Staff from iCHEF POS

  1. Go to Toolbox > Customer Management
  2. Select a member and click [Coupon History]

Manage Coupons

You can edit, duplicate, or delete coupon by clicking the [pen] icon.

Managing OptionsDescription
EditEdit and view an existing coupon settings.
DuplicateCreate a new discount with the same discount settings.
Disable/EnableYou can’t award or apply this coupon. However, you can enable it again anytime. The data will be conserved in discount analysis report.
Delete PermanentlyThis coupon will be removed and you’re unable to recover it. This action might cause deviations in sales report.

Notice

  • A member can only claim & use a same coupon ONCE. You can’t apply coupon to split bills.
  • Anyone with coupon QR code can proceed to coupon claiming page and claim the coupon.
  • You can give out coupons by sharing coupon link/code instead of printing QR code.
  • When applying multiple discounts to the same order, the deducted amount will be calculated from the top to the bottom.
  • When refunding a discount-applied order, the coupon redeemed for this order will be returned to the customer.
  • When refunding an order that awards coupons to the customers, the coupon will not be voided.
