[Hardware] Printer LED Light Display and Troubleshooting

Please check the LED light status on the printer, each LED independently indicates status or error information.

Normal Power Light Status

  • Error description: Power off
  • Power light status: Off
  • Recommended fix: Please press “Power” to turn on the printer.

  • Error description: Power on, standby status
  • Power light status: Blue LED light on
  • Recommended fix: None

Network link display – Ethernet (LAN) connection

  • Error description: Ethernet connected
  • Power light status: Blue light on, green light on
  • Recommended fix: None

  • Error description: Ethernet link down (Physically disconnected). The printer and the destination network device such as a router or hub was disconnected.
  • Power light status: Blue light on, green light off
  • Recommended fix:
    • If the printer is directly connected to the printer through the iPad USB cable, this is normal light, please ignore it.
    • If the iPad and printer are connected through the internet, please confirm the network (LAN) cable is correctly connected between the router and printer.

  • Error description: Ethernet link down. The IP address cannot be obtained.
  • Power light: Blue light on, green light blinking
  • Recommended fix: The IP address cannot be obtained, please restart the router and printer. If the green light is still blinking, please replace a network (LAN) cable.

Warning Light

  • Error description: The printer is out of paper.
  • Power light: Blue light is on, blinks alternately with red light every 3 seconds.
  • Recommended fix: Set the paper, close the printer cover, and it will move to the power-on status.

  • Error description: iPad that can only be charged via USB, does not have the “data transfer function”
  • Power light::After the blue light is on, it alternately blinks with the red light 5 times.(After blinking, LED status will return to status display for about 5 seconds )
  • Recommended fix: Replace the USB cable between the iPad and the printer. The USB cable must pass the Apple MFi certification.Purchase USB cable. (TW only)

  • Error description: USB hub has been connected to the USB-A port.
  • Power light: Blue light is on, it will blink alternately with the red light 10 times (After blinking, LED status will return to status display for about 5 seconds )
  • Recommended fix: The printer does not support the USB hub, please remove the USB hub.

Error Display (automatic recovery error)

  • Error description: Stops printing due to detected high temperature for the printer head.
  • Power light: Blue light blinks once every 2 seconds.
  • Recommended fix: Check whether there are electrical appliances that are prone to heat around the printer and turn off the power supply of the printer. When the substrate temperature returns to a normal range, printing will resume automatically.

  • Error description: Stops printing due to detected high temperature for the motherboard.
  • Power light: Blue light blinks 2 times every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Check whether there are electrical appliances that are prone to heat around the printer and turn off the power supply of the printer. When the substrate temperature returns to a normal range, printing will resume automatically.

Error display (error from which recovery is possible – Store owner can fix by itself)

  • Error description: The printer cover is open.
  • Power light: Red light on
  • Recommended fix: Set the paper, close the printer cover, and it will move to the power-on status. (View: Paper roll set-up and replacement)

  • Error description: The printer is out of paper.
  • Power light: Red light keeps blinking for 0.5 seconds.
  • Recommended fix: Set the paper, close the printer cover, and it will move to the power-on status. (View: Paper roll set-up and replacement)

  • Error description: Cutter error
  • Power light: Purple light keeps blinking for 0.25 seconds.
  • Recommended fix: Open the printer cover if possible, remove the jammed paper, and then close the printer cover. (View: Release the Printer Cutter)

If the printer cover cannot be opened, turn the power off once, and on again; a cutter error will be resolved. If the same error is displayed even after you take the action above, please contact iCHEF customer support. Do not force open the printer cover


Error Display (error from which recovery is not possible, may need to be sent back to the dealer for repair)

  • Error description: Abnormal power supply voltage detection error
  • Power light: Purple light blinks every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. Try changing the location of the electrical outlet to an independent one and turn on the power again. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Error description: Printer head thermistor error
  • Power light: Purple light blinks 2 times every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Error description: EEPROM access error
  • Power light: Purple light blinks 4 times every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Error description: EEPROM access error
  • Power light: Purple light blinks 5 times every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Error description: EEPROM access error
  • Power light: Purple light blinks 6 times every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Error description: Firmware rewrite error
  • Power light: Purple light blinks 7 times every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Power light status: Off
  • Recommended fix: Please press ‘Power” to turn on the printer

  • Error description: Power on, standby status
  • Power light: Blue light stay on, red light off
  • Recommended fix: None


  • Error description: The printer is connected with iPad, and the iPad is being “charged”
  • Power light: After the blue light on, the red light and blue light blink continuously 9 times (After blinking, LED status will return to the status display for about 5 seconds )
  • Recommended fix: None

  • Error description: USB hub has been connected to the USB-A port.
  • Power light: Blue light stay on, it will blink alternately with the red light 10 times. (After blinking, LED status will return to status display for about 5 seconds )
  • Recommended fix: The printer does not support the USB hub, please remove the USB hub.

  • Power light: The red light keeps blinking for 0.5 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Set the paper and close the printer cover, then lock the printer and it will move to the standby status. (View: Paper roll set-up and replacement)


  • Error description: Cutter error
  • Power light: Blue light is off, and the red light keeps blinking for 0.5 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Open the printer cover if possible, remove the jammed paper, and then close the printer cover. (View: Release the Printer Cutter)

If the printer cover cannot be opened, turn the power off once, and on again; a cutter error will be resolved. If the same error is displayed even after you take the action above, contact iCHEF customer support. Do not force open the front cover of the paper roll.

  • Error description: Abnormal power supply voltage detection error
  • Power light: Red light blinks 1 time every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. Try changing the location of the electrical outlet to an independent one and turn on the power again. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Error description: Printer head thermistor error
  • Power light: Red light blinks 2 times every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Error description: Bluetooth communication error
  • Power light: Red light blinks 3 times every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Error description: EEPROM access error
  • Power light: Red light blinks 4 times every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Error description: EEPROM access error
  • Power light: Red light blinks 5 times every 2 seconds
  • Recommended fix: Try turning the power off, and then on. If the same error is displayed even after the power is turned on again, please contact iCHEF customer support.

  • Error description: EEPROM access error
  • Power light: Red light blinks 6 times every 2 seconds

  • Recommended fix: Please press ‘Power” to turn on the printer

  • Error description: Power on, standby status
  • Power light: Blue light stay on, red light off
  • Recommended fix: None

Warning Light

  • Error description: The printer is connected with iPad, and the iPad is being “charged”
  • Power light: Blue light stays on, and the red light and blue light blink continuously 10 times. (After blinking, LED status will return to status display for about 5 seconds )

  • Error description: Power on, standby status

Error Display

  • Error description: Stops printing due to detected high temperature for the printer head.
  • Power light: Red light blinks
  • Recommended fix: Check whether there are electrical appliances that are prone to heat around the printer and turn off the power supply of the printer. When the substrate temperature returns to a normal range, printing will resume automatically.
  • Error description: The printer is out of paper, or deliver the label abnormally.
  • Power light: Red light stays on and there are 2 sounds of “beep”.
  • Recommended fix: Set the paper, close the printer cover, and it will move to the power-on status. If there are plenty of labels inside, please pass the label under the paper guides and pull it forward. (View: Paper roll set-up and replacement)
