[Hardware] iCHEF POS System Requirements (SLA)

To ensure smooth operation and data security of the iCHEF POS system, please refer to the following hardware and software requirements to keep all services running on schedule.

iPadOS Version

iPadOS is the operating system for iPad. The iCHEF POS App is developed on this system and runs only on Apple’s iPad devices.

Apple releases new iPadOS versions annually. To improve performance and compatibility, iCHEF POS App is updated accordingly. For a stable experience, keep store iPads updated within the latest two versions.

From 2025/03/01, iPadOS 17 or 18 and above are required to download and update iCHEF POS App from the App Store.

Which iPads can install the latest iPadOS?
Please check Apple official manual to confirm if your store’s iPads support the latest version.

How to check your iPad model and iPadOS version?
Open the iPad “Settings” app, go to “General” >”About” to view. You can also refer to Apple’s official guide to identify the model by appearance.

How to update iPadOS?
Open the iPad “Settings” app, tap “General”>”Software Update” to upgrade to the latest supported version, or follow the official guide.

Can’t upgrade iPadOS? Do you need to get a new iPad?

If iPadOS does not meet the minimum requirements, you cannot download or update iCHEF POS App from the App Store. It’s recommended to replace old iPads, preferably with Apple’s latest models or those released within the last 2 years.

According to official info, iPads can usually upgrade to the latest OS within 4 years of release.

Supported Printer Models

iCHEF POS supports paired printers, allowing each work area to print corresponding receipts. For stable printing and smooth data transfer, please use the printer brands and models listed below.

Supported order printer models vary by restaurant location with iCHEF.

Internet Requirements

iCHEF POS supports offline use, allowing business to continue during temporary disconnections. However, to ensure data security, the system requires re-connection verification after being offline for more than 7 consecutive days. Also, the following features need a constant internet connection to function properly:

  • Ordering iPad Service
  • Mobile Ordering (Dine-in QR Ordering, Takeout/Delivery, Reservation Management)
  • Product Sales Status (Discontinued)
  • Customer Information Management (CRM)
  • Card Reader Integration (mPOS, Global Payments, etc.)
  • Mobile Payments (LINE Pay, JKoPay, etc.)
  • Electronic Invoice

Service Usage Limit

Different plans have different usage limits. If marked “Unlimited,” the highest usage is allowed. Below are the maximum allowed quantities per store:

  • Members: 120,000 records
  • Inventory Items: 1,500 records
  • Mobile Ordering Volume: 20,000 orders per month
